Development and applications of RNAi technology in drug research

Abstract: RNA interference (RNAi) is a process in which double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) induces sequencespecific posttranscriptional gene silencing of homologous transcripts. In mammalian cells, RNAi can be triggered by 21-25 nucleotide duplexes of small interfering RNA (siRNA). In the postgenome era, RNAi has broad application prospect in probing gene function and drug research. This review summarises development and applications of RNAi technology in drug research,such as drug-target discovery and identification, RNAi reagent, multidrug resistance over the past few years.
